HOUSE OF SEVEN:
ADDITION TO FRENCH HALL WEST

Competition entry - "How many of us still think, today, of the symbolism of numbers…? Living in a desacralized world, number seven is just a 'number,' inasmuch as three, or five, or nine, or ten... Please design A HOUSE OF SEVEN that would make an Ancient Egyptian, or a Sufi mystic, or a Dogon sage, or a faithful Muslim, or a Cabalist happy."

While numbers may have lost religious symbolism, research in fields such as math and science have yielded endless new meanings to numbers. The House of Seven is an addition to French Hall West at the University of Cincinnati. It acts as a space to bring together faculty from the math, science, and religious and cultural studies departments.
