I am an artist and designer originally from Michigan. I graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Art & Design and Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Architecture at the University of Cincinnati and expect to graduate May 2019. In addition to working as a freelance illustrator, I design furniture and lamps and work with soft pastels.
My dual-degree at the University of Michigan gave me the opportunity to learn from and work with a variety of talented individuals in different fields. I was exposed to concepts and ideas that ranged from conveying emotion with simple graphics to Gaussian plume models that predict how pollution disperses in air after release from a point source.
I love to design and create, and choosing to pursue two degrees furthered my ability to do so. Both degrees addressed design in different ways but ultimately complemented each other. My art & design curriculum required me to be creative and think outside of the box. The engineering curriculum called for me to understand the technical side of design by pushing me to analyze how and why things happen more closely. While balancing these contrasting goals was difficult and time consuming, it was an extremely rewarding process.
